Blue Crow Sports Group has partnered with CD Leganés and Cancún FC to launch an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with British design studio Acid FC.

The limited edition collection features the mascots of CD Leganés and Cancún FC:

"Super Pepino", a super powerful cucumber in reference to the city's agricultural history

(Leganés is nicknamed Los Pepineros), and an iguana like the one that appears on the shield of the

Cancun. The marketing teams of Cancun FC and CD Leganés have collaborated on a

international campaign aimed at fostering unity among fans through

sport, art, lifestyle and fashion in Spain and Mexico. The marketing campaign

features a comedy sketch and a short animated video enhanced with digital graphics that complement the pieces in the collection.

Veronica Fereday, Merchandise Director for Blue Crow Sports said, "This collection highlights the global appeal and cultural significance of sportswear trends by fostering connections with fans around the world."

Blue Crow has been collaborating with both clubs for two seasons, making an impact on and off the pitch. The capsule collection includes t-shirts, ponchos, caps and towels designed by Acid FC, a renowned design studio that has previously collaborated with teams such as Leeds United and Red Star FC.

Acid FC founder and creative director Ed Cowburn explains: “The opportunity to incorporate two football clubs 5,000 miles apart into one cohesive apparel collection was perfect for us. We like to do things that are unique and have never been attempted before. We’ve been fans of Leganés for a few years now, ever since we heard about Super Pepino, and bringing him to life on an iguana ticks a lot of our creative boxes.”

"We were inspired by the nose art painted on warplanes along with vintage 60s and 70s cartoons like The Pink Panther and British shows like Rhubarb and Jamie and the Magic Torch. It was a very trippy, fun and playful style. Being able to create an animated presentation video inspired by those classic cartoons for the project was the icing on the cake."

CD Leganés vice-president Eduardo Cosín and Cancún FC vice-president Giovanni Solazzi praised the launch of the capsule.

"We are delighted to be able to present this exclusive capsule of clothing and merchandising, uniting through the great design of Acid FC of Leganés and Cancún. We have respected the idiosyncrasy of both clubs, but uniting them through two symbols such as their mascots. In addition, this type of collaboration allows us to increase the international presence of the club by reaching new audiences."

The Collection will be available exclusively in the stores of each of the clubs' stadiums and on their online platforms from 8 May 2024.
